The butterfly exemplifies abstinence, fidelity and the character quality of courage.
Abstinence– The butterfly only reproduces when it is fully developed mature and in its most beautiful state.
Fidelity – A butterfly has only one mate for life. It is so loyal that if it’s mate dies, it will not take a new mate.
Character – Butterflies, especially the swallowtail, will defend its offspring against birds several times its size. The character quality of loyalty is coupled with courage to allow the butterfly to face insurmountable odds. Their character may go unnoticed but flowers depend upon them and virtually all humans admire them.
